Setting up dmz windows xp
I want to get things setup so that i'm no longer just opening and closing ports on the sonicwall email security firewall gateway, which is basically how i've been doing things for a while.. We run Exchange and i'm the process of redoing the ocs R2 installation, this time with an edge server its my understanding that the voice component and maybe web conferencing one?
So my goal here is to setup this edge server for OCS and setup exchange correctly dmz wise not clear on how that would be yet.. Things i'm not clear on: I'm not sure, with a server in the DMZ, like the OCS edge server, or even an ftp service running on one, if those should be joined to the domain..
One suggestion i should have a hub or switch sitting in between the port going to my HyperV server card the one i'd dedicate as dmz and the sonicwall.. Would the guest have two virtual nics.. Wouldnt i have to setup a virtual network switch on the hyperv host as well?
Any thoughts on all this? Saturday, January 30, AM. This includes the edge server. You will want to use exclusive physical servers for these servers. You can use another operating system, but these instructions have been designed with Windows 10 in mind. Adding the VHD file extension changes this file to a virtual hard disk file, supported by VirtualBox, allowing you to run Windows XP as a virtual machine. The Windows XP virtual machine that loads at this point can only be used for 30 days as it lacks a valid license.
If you can find your Windows license key for Windows XP from an older PC, for instance , you may be able to add it to your virtual machine directly, although it may still not activate. You can only do so much with a Windows XP simulator like this, but if you want to keep testing, you can try out other operating systems as VirtualBox virtual machines.
