Sayings of imam hussain pdf
Perhaps one of the most important questions for each of us about life is what a good and flourishing life is and most generally if it is worth living. Many people, including great philosophers and scholars of ethics and mysticism throughout history, have tried to find an answer to this question regarding life worth. All the rest […] comes afterward. We can divide these viewpoints into three categories:. They believe life costs a lot and has very few benefits for us.
You're born, you don't know why. You're here, you don't know why. You go, you die. Your family dies. Your friends die. People suffer. People live in constant terror. The world is full of poverty and corruption and war and Nazis and tsunamis.
So some of these people think why not we commit suicide to get rid of this miserable life?! These people believe life is so valuable no matter how it seems and we have to live it at any price. Lots of people choose to think this way. So, sometimes it is worth living and sometimes not. This is what Islam and Islamic leaders teach their followers about life worth. There are examples in the lives of the infallible Imams in which they indicate that we are not created only to live this worldly life and that this life is merely a path for us to reach a higher status.
So, we should always think if this earthly life will be to our benefit in the hereafter or not. If yes, then it is worth living; if not fight for those benefits even if you die.
One of the most significant role models for us in this regard is Imam Hussain AS , the third infallible Imam, whose act of sacrifice has left a profound impact on humankind throughout history. Imam Hussain AS believed accepting humiliation and obedience to mean people is like living in hell. At this state, death to him is more desirable than living under the oppression of the tyrants and surrendering to their wishes. Therefore, when he was placed in a dilemma by the oppressors to be humiliated by swearing allegiance to the tyrant of the time, Yazid, or to fight and probably die, he decided to fight even if he died.
He sacrificed all he had in this way and departed this earthly life with glory. Now, after about years, every year in Muharram, lots of ceremonies are held around the world to commemorate the anniversary of his martyrdom.
Lots of people from different religions get influenced by him and his ideology and sometimes it makes them embrace Islam. Which point of view do you agree about life worth? Will you ever give up your benefits for the good of others to make them have a flourishing and more valuable life?
Morality is one of the most fundamental principles of any society and the determining factor of the success or corruption of human beings. There are different aspects of life, and most of them are still unknown to man due to his limitations and restrictions by nature.
Therefore, human science and knowledge are not enough to discover all aspects of humanity. On the other hand, viewing life and the universe as the artistic creation of Allah, one can conclude that He is the source of all knowledge and wisdom. Therefore the knowledge which He provided man with to have a beneficial and prosperous life is essential and vital for the blooming progress of humankind. On our journey, we face difficulties, joy, sadness, hardship, success, and failure in different forms and occasions, including personal life, married life, academic environment, and a workplace where taking the right actions and decisions sometimes becomes challenging.
Relying on the roadmap provided by Allah Himself, reduces the tension and paves the way for making the right and sound decisions. These are just a few examples of endless guidelines provided in the holy Quran. All the prophets were depicted as role models for human morality and ethics; one of whom was Prophet Muhammad PBUH who tried his best to invite all people to Islam through his practical ethics. He stands in history as the best model for man in piety and perfection.
He is living proof of what man can be and of what he can accomplish in the realm of excellence and virtue. To sum up, leading an ethical life without any guidelines can be an exhausting task.
Although there are many different views on consulting right and wrong, the most reliable and guaranteed is the one provided by Allah, called religion. In the religion of Islam, there are various ethical instructions and guidelines ranging from educational systems, raising children, science, and medicine to business, individual and social life altogether offered comprehensively and feasibly.
Those who worship God out of fear of punishment , they're slaves. And those who worship God to be grateful towards their creator , they are the free people, and their worship is a real one. Among the signs of a learned man is criticizing his own words and being informed of various viewpoints.
Imam replied: Life is going on, in such a way that I have a God over me, the hell-fire in front of me , death is looking for me, there is no escape of the Day of Judgment, I am taken as a hostage by my own deeds, things do not turn out to be the way I like , I cannot repel what I hate, the affairs are in someone else's hands.
He tortures me if he likes and he forgives if he wishes. Therefore, is there anybody poorer than me? He replied: "Controlling your tongue and doing good deeds. Surely the glorious God cannot be cheated and no reward can be achieved from him except by his obedience; God willing.
Think for a while and ask yourself : Where are the kings and emperors of the world? Where are those who re-built the ruins , dug ditches and wells , planted trees and set up habitable towns?
Where are those who gathered wealth? They had to part with their wealth and properties and leave them to other reluctantly. We, too, will have the same fate.
