Adobe should be embarrassed to have this running inside their software. It runs like something I hacked together in freshman year of college. I would think the Export Layers to File script duration would vary greatly depending on document content.

A document can have up to 8, Layers. Creating 8, single layer view of your document encoding a file for each view will take time. The document you showed you have the issue with was also strange all the Layer were out of our view in a collapse Layer group and the document had a Frame Animation Time line that has a single Frame.

Not much of and Animation in my book. We have no idea of what kind of layers Photoshop had to deal with or how many layer and layer groups were in your document top Collapse Layer group. It not a simple task to save each layer as a image file.

Smart Object layer need to be Isolated and each smart filter has to filter the layer's pixels the transformed and distorted from the pixels Photoshop rendered for the object and the filters need to be applied in the order they were added to the layer masked by the filter mask them the smart objects layer masks need to be applied and then layer style effects generated before the output file can be encoded and written. Exporting Layers to files is not a trivial operation like you seem to think it is.

How long does it take you to paint up to 8, pictures. If is is so bad why not just edit the Script and fix it up the run better for your work.

Search the Web may be other Photoshop users have and have made their versions available. It's not collapsed, the arrow is pointing down. In fact, this was the clue that led me to post a solution. I am not attacking you personally.

The thing just hasn't aged well and Adobe should replace it with a more optimized version. Humans are not perfect beings I did not notice that the arrow was pointing down please forgive my oversight I missed that important fact clearly your Photoshop busted. You have an open document in Photoshop and your layers palette shows there the is no Layer kind filtering set all Layer kinds show be shown in the layers Palette. So your Document has no layers which is not possible so indeed your Photoshop is busted.

On top of that you were able to create a Frame Animation time line and the First Frame thumbnail shows the frame has content. A Frame's content is the composite of visible layer in the layer stack. Indeed your Photoshop is busted. Thanks for this code. It's excellent.

I forked and added the option to include the background layer on all exported files. It happened to be a feature I needed and your code seemed like the best place to add it into. I followed your naming convention for variables and for saving exportInfo. Sorry, something went wrong. This doesn't seem to work with actions in the latest PS build.

You can export manually just fine when recording, but it calls the default Export Layers to Files script which is disabled, so it throws an error. I am trying to slice label sheets, but the problem is that all of the layers have the same name, so I need something like this script to randomly number the layers. I don't care what the file name is because I never look, I just print.

I need help, when I do batch export, its saving the files with only the layer names but I need to be saved file name with layer name at the same time for example: file name is : Dad, that has layers: red, blue, green When I do the export I need the saved file to say Dad Red, Dad Blue, Dad green Is there anyway to do that?

PC: I'm using CC In my perfect world, I would be able to specify both the resulting file name and the target folder as part of the layer name. Example; I have a PSD with the following layer names;. Thus, when the dialog prompts me for the directory to save files, I select the root directory within which is located the five subdirectories; 01, 02, 03, 04 and 05 to which the files are directed by the characters to the right of the forward slash. File names are determined by everything that appears to the left of forward slash.

Make sense? Does this even seem possible? Thanks for sharing this Dave! How would I go about disabling the 'Preserve photoshop editing capabilities' when saving layers into PDF with this script? It's defaulted to enabled and produces 5x larger files than necessary. I've added a line to the code but doesn't seem to be working.

Can anyone help me understand why the script has Trim checkbox enabled true but isn't actually enabled when the script is executed? I'd really like that Trim option checked as true as default. I've been scouring this code and can't figure out how to change it. Thanks for sharing! Is it possible that all levels of different groups are reduced to one background level? I still have some minor issues when saving layered files and im working on those.

You can find my version here. I noticed that as well, ive fixed also transparency not working. See my alteration of this here.

If you want the default to be enabled. However it should be on by default. Those lines in exportInfo are the defaults, these are also saved. So when you run the script again, it will always show the last used settings. I noticed in the some other versions and the layercomps version the trim and transparency had issues.

I fixed those as well.
